【摘要】:Thistestmethodisanondestructivemeansofdeterminingthenuclideconcentrationofasolutionforspecialnuclearmaterialaccountancy,nuclearsafety,andprocesscontrol.Itisassumedthatthenuclidetobeanalyzedisinahomogeneoussolution(PracticeC1168).Thetransmissioncorrectionmakesthetestmethodindependentofmatrixandusefuloverseveralordersofmagnitudeofnuclideconcentrations.However,atypicalconfigurationwillnormallyspanonlytwotothreeordersofmagnitude.Thetestmethodassumesthatthesample-detectorgeometryisthesameforallmeasureditems.Thiscanbeaccomplishedbyrequiringthattheliquidheightinthesidelookinggeometryexceedsthedetectorfieldofviewdefinedbythecollimator.Fortheuplookinggeometry,afixedsamplefillheightmustbemaintainedandvialsofidenticalradiimustbeusedunlessthevialradiusexceedsthefieldofviewdefinedbythecollimator.Sincegamma-raysystemscanbeautomated,thetestmethodcanberapid,reliable,andnotlaborintensive.Thistestmethodmaybeapplicabletoin-lineoroff-linesituations.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheconcentrationofgamma-rayemittingspecialnuclearmaterialsdissolvedinhomogeneoussolutions.Thetestmethodcorrectsforgamma-rayattenuationbythesampleanditscontainerbymeasurementofthetransmissionofabeamofgammaraysfromanexternalsource(Refs.(1),(2),and(3)).1.2Twosamplegeometries,slabandcylinder,areconsidered.Thesamplecontainerthatdeterminesthegeometrymaybeeitheraremovableorafixedgeometrycontainer.Thistestmethodislimitedtosamplecontainershavingwallsoratopandbottomofequaltransmissionthroughwhichthegammaraysfromtheexternaltransmissioncorrectionsourcemustpass.1.3Thistestmethodistypicallyappliedtoradionuclideconcentrationsrangingfromafewmilligramsperlitretoseveralhundredgramsperlitre.Theassayrangewillbeafunctionofthespecificactivityofthenuclideofinterest,thephysicalcharacteristicsofthesamplecontainer,countingequipmentconsiderations,assaygamma-rayenergies,samplematrix,gamma-raybranchingratios,andinterferences.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazards,seeSection9.
